ANAR, a non-governmental organization based in Cologne, Germany, is dedicated to providing free education to Afghan girls who have been denied their fundamental right to education under the Taliban’s oppressive rule.The name ‘ANAR,’ meaning pomegranate, symbolizes the potential for growth in each seed. ANAR aims to empower girls with knowledge, recognizing their pivotal role in guiding Afghanistan towards a fair, equal, and progressive society.
To address the challenges faced by girls in Afghanistan due to the Taliban’s rules, ANAR operates under the slogan “Bridging hope through education.” Acknowledging the limitations of immediate legal changes, ANAR has taken practical steps, offering online classes and partnering with schools like Afghanistan Online School, New Smart Home School, and Youth Center for Dialogue and Peace (YCDP). This approach allows numerous girls, including those studying in hidden schools, to continue their studies safely online and in-person in Herat, Kabul and North Afghanistan.
ANAR’s Initiative:
ANAR’s initiatives on its unique platform, www.anar.academy provide Afghan female students with free education, allowing their talents to flourish despite deliberate deprivation. The curriculum includes subjects like science, history, geography, German language, technical courses, leadership courses, and nursing. In addition, Afghan youth can benefit from the ANAR platform by acquiring internationally recognized degrees or diplomas, such as the International Baccalaureate (IB). Recognizing it as opportunities, ANAR understands that Afghan women and youth, having experienced the pain of the absence of education, will excel and approach this opportunity with seriousness and dedication.
